SECOND TIME IN ENGLISH CLUB
It was my second time in Johnny’s English speaking club. The topic of this club was “ Cockney.” It was exciting because I have never heard of it, so it was new to me. Cockney means like you have to make up collocation for one word with rhythm and use it instead. For, example “bride= fat and wide or mother’s pride.” We had to created dialogues with such collocation and guessed their meaning. In the end, we had to create our own “cockneys,” and that is what I made up: “fat and bad= mad” and “ colors fall=wall.”Unfortunately, we have no analogies to it in the Ukrainian language. I suppose it could be amusing and thrilling.Albina Chasnyk
The second English club was much more cognitive, but difficulties with understanding and speaking started to disappear. As we took places, I understood that today we would have something connected with grammar. On the whiteboard was wrote - Cockneys. Later Johnny explained what it mean because I thought about something edible as it turned out, cockney it tiny poems with almost unpredictable meaning. For example, money - bread and honey. It firstly was done in small region of England, so some people that come there can easily be confused by their huge variety there even now. Our main task for that class was to come up with our cockney and try to guess the meaning of others offered by students. My favorite were: "steps and stairs - apples and pears" "bike - clever mike" and "married - cut and carried".
